In Reach Control there are two options when you set up a port: full-duplex or half-duplex. "Duplex" is used to refer to the direction of communication, and whether communications are going in both directions at the same time, or just one. Full Duplex means that data is being both transmitted and received at the same time, while Half Duplex means that data can only be transmitted OR received at the same time.
When configuring your port, use the following options for each type of communication:
- RS232: Full Duplex
- RS485: Half Duplex
- UDP: Full Duplex
- TCP: Full Duplex
