There are many reasons why you might not be able to communicate with your manipulator, and most of the time you need to work through a series of troubleshooting steps to figure out exactly what’s wrong.
Some things to look at:
- Is your firewall blocking the connection?
- Are you using the wrong coms protocol?
- All Reach Robotics manipulators can use both RS232 and RS485, but this needs to be chosen correctly in Reach Control and the correct cable needs to be attached to the breakout board.
- Have you chosen the wrong COM port?
- If you have multiple serial units connected to your PC at the same time, you may accidentally choose a COM port connected to a different system.
- Do you have the correct IP address?
- Are there any warnings in Reach Control?
- Do you have the correct voltage applied?
